Chimney Pots

Chimney pots -- something you rarely see in America. This was shot from the rooftop a 4-story home (owned by one of Jasmin's old friends) in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, U.K. Click to enlarge.

Hebden Water

Today's photos are from Calderdale, UK, in December of 2007. Hebden Water is the name of the river running through; though it doesn't feel tiny, Calderdale is what many in the UK would probably class a "small town" -- and there are little towns like this dotting the English countryside pretty much wherever you go. The interesting part is that there are pretty much no suburbs -- the town just abruptly stops. Click to enlarge.

Want to buy prints?

Were you just at Art in the Park in Kearney Nebraska? Looking to buy prints? Just click here to go to a gallery of all the pictures that were shown at my table. If you'd like to see other pictures for sale that weren't at my table, check my full gallery of photos. Thanks for stopping by!

Today's photo is a bit more minimalistic than usual for me -- it's of a small flock of birds flying above Calderdale, UK. Click to enlarge.

A couple candids from Edinburgh

It was quite a blustery day! One brolly malfunction, and one woman, just as she saw me. Click to enlarge.

The rest of the Yorkminster HDR photos

I'd forgotten all about these -- when I was in York, I shot a series of HDR photos inside of York Minster, a gothic style structure much like a cathedral. All the below images were created using multiple photos (around 10 each), downsampled and processed with Photoshop CS3. Click to enlarge.

Candid Cop

A random candid of a policewoman in NYC. I think she noticed me shooting at one point; fortunately, not ALL police in NYC will hassle you for photography. :) Click to enlarge.

Just for Gawker

Gawker has a nice writeup about the last pano I shot -- thanks, guys! They also suggested shooting the photo in a way that would make the buildings all have correct height in relation to each other. This is actually an interesting idea, and one that would be technically extremely difficult to pull off. It'd require a good deal of prethinking to avoid parallax. I'll file that one away for the future!

Anyhow, while I can't go back and shoot it on a boat at the moment, here's another pano for you midtown folk, this time big enough for your Apple Twindisplays. View it full. If you want to license this for commerical or editorial use, go hither. The full res version of this shot is 11861 pixels by 3675 pixels.

This was shot at dusk on June 2, 2008 from Jersey City.

Valley, Nebraska Embedded Supercell

This is a panorama near Valley, Nebraska, of the June 11th storm that went through Valley and later Omaha. This was a line of storms with embedded supercells that managed to put down surprising number of tornadoes, one of which killed several Boyscouts in Iowa. The original of this photo is almost 6000 pixels wide; it was stitched together with Photoshop CS4. Click to enlarge.
