Today's picture of the day is from a storm chase last year in Republican county, Kansas. Or maybe it was the year before -- this stuff is all starting to blend together! On the left is one of the Doppler-on-Wheels trucks (DOW-2, I think). Clickn' makes it bigger.

BTW, Lanette sent me over some pics today from the aformentioned photoshoot that Josh, her, and me went on. Again -- she's never even tried to take artistic photos before, and this is the kind of stuff she's coming up with. Not bad at all!

The 0Z seems to shift the low further south to agree with the NAM. E Kansas I can do, but I'm not driving to Oklahoma in January for a marginal setup. :(

Stormchasing in January? Unpossible!

Looking at the 12Z model runs, the GFS in particular, it seems like tomorrow might be a good day to chase E/NE Kansas. It's pretty marginal, but hell, it's January. :) If nothing else, it'll be a good shakedown of my new cellphone modem setup. Sucks that my digital camera is in the shop; but my EOS-3 is more than up to the job. I'll post more when the 0Z comes out.
