I think it was some sort of advert shoot -- the subject of all this attention was just a couple of joe-blow looking people eating some fast food. The photog definately had one of the cooler softboxes I've ever seen, though. :)
I guess the pads would make sense if he was getting down on his hands and knees to take photos...Better than kneeling directly on the asphalt or concrete...
