Revisiting HDR 2

This is another HDR photo that I'm revisiting and having another go at with a different algorithm. The previous image was created with Photoshop CS3. Which do you like more? The new one or the old one?

Old one:

New One:

My fear is that the new version might be picking up a bit too much contrast in the sky. I tend not to like "garish" overblown HDR shots.

The old one for sure. The sky has too much local contrast and certainly looks more HDR-processed... Ideally, I'd like to look at an image and not have to say "That's been 'HDR'-ed". When it's obvious, it takes away the impact for me.

at first I liked the revised one because of the color pop in the clouds, but after scanning around a bit I'm leaning back to the more natural original.

I definitely like the old one better. Looks much more natural while the new one looks quite cooked. It might be fine without the old one beside it, but put side by side the old one is better.

I don't mind the sky so much as the buildings which look too artificial in the new one. In this case, the older is better.

I can definitely see what you're saying about the sky being a bit over contrasted in the new one. However, I feel that the new one picks up some better details from the buildings, so that's definitely a plus... either way, keep up the good work :)

I'll go for the old one too. The new one seems to be "dirty", where the previous one seems more crisp.
